The Spices Market in the European Union
The EU is a main importer of spices and herbs for Turkey. Germany, the Netherlands, the UK,
Spain and France are the leading importers for these products in the EU. Most of the imports
are being re-imported from other EU countries and re-exported to other member countries or
to countries outside the EU.
The main parties involved in the distribution of the spices and herbs are; agents/brokers,
traders/importers, processors, end users which is mainly the industrial sector. The products are
mainly imported in bulk form and following this they are being processed and repacked and
sometimes re-exported in the EU.
The importers have started to move from dealing with  many small producers and decide to
deal with companies who have high quality, high volume and consistent products.
